Dr. Brenda Jacobsen's inducted into the Business Professionals of America Hall of Fame

During the 47th annual National Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL, Dr. Brenda Jacobsen was inducted into the Business Professionals of America Hall of Fame. Kirk Lawson, Executive Director of BPA wrote, "The Hall of Fame Award is the single highest honor that can be bestowed upon any advisor. You are joining an elite group of Business Professionals of America honorees that represent the best of our best." Shayla Jackson-Martin a 2012/2013 National Officer and member of Dr. Jacobsen's Idaho State University Chapter introduced Dr. Jacobsen during the Honor Reception.

In the late 1970's and early 80's, she served as a member of OEA. For six years, she served on the Board of Trustees, eight years on the Host Committee for NLC, and an NLC Intern Program Coordinator. She designed and hosted with the help of her student Sheldon Harris the National Online Registration system for the Intern Program and the National Online Judges Registration system. As she has presented her work at previous NLC's, her professional development and peer reviewed and academic presentations are outstanding! She has served as the Post-Secondary Officer Coordinator for the State of Idaho and Board Member of Idaho Association of BPA, both since 2005.


Dr. Brenda Jacobsen's outstanding achievements, passion for helping others, and determination has seen no end. Dr. Jacobsen said of her honor, "I am grateful to Mireya Martinez who initiated the nomination process and to all of my past and current students and College of Education administration and faculty who support the work that I do with students and Career and Technical Education. I do what I love every day and I am honored to have been inducted into the Business Professionals of America Hall of Fame."

The Center for Sports Concussion at Idaho State University

Caroline E. Faure, EdDThe Center for Sports Concussion at Idaho State University is housed within the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education. The purpose of the Center for Sports Concussion is two-fold: (a) to offer educational outreach on concussion identification and management practices to athletic administrators, coaches, and parent groups throughout Idaho in accordance with Idaho law and demonstrated need, and (b) to facilitate baseline and post-concussion neurocognitive testing to athletes participating in sports programs throughout Eastern Idaho.
